Privacy notes
Last updated: 18 May 2026 · Consent version v1-2026-05
What we collect when you sign in
When you press Continue with Google on a tool sign-in page, Google verifies your identity and shares three pieces of information with us:
- Email address — the verified address on your Google account
- Display name — as it appears on your Google profile
- Avatar URL — the public profile photo from your Google account
We do not receive your password, calendar, contacts, files, or any other Google data. We never post on your behalf.
What we store
On a successful sign-in we record, in a Google Sheet we own:
- Your email, name, and avatar URL (as above)
- The tool you were trying to open (e.g.
/tools/transits) - The timestamp of your first sign-in and your most recent visit
- A count of how many times you've signed in
- Your country (derived from the request headers — no street-level location, no IP address stored)
- The version of these notes you agreed to (so any future change is auditable)
A session cookie (__jyotish_session) is set in your browser so you don't have to sign in again for 24 hours. The cookie contains your email and an opaque identifier; it does not track you across other sites.
What we use it for
- Recognising you on return visits, so tools can be tied to your account and your reports are scoped to you.
- Occasional emails about new tools, significant updates, or transit-related content you might find useful. We aim to send at most a few times a month. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any such email.
We do not sell, rent, or share your details with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party. The Google Sheet is private to the practitioner running this site.
Cookies and analytics
We currently use one functional cookie — the session cookie described above — and no third-party advertising or tracking cookies. We are not running Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar at the time of writing.
If we add anonymous visit analytics in the future (e.g. Plausible or a privacy-friendly equivalent), we'll update these notes and bump the consent version.
How to remove your data
Email hello@astromoola.com from the email address you signed up with. We'll remove your row from the subscribers sheet and confirm by reply within a few days. You can also clear the session cookie any time from your browser settings.
Changes to these notes
Material changes will bump the consent version above and be announced via email to existing subscribers. Existing rows in the subscribers sheet retain the version string you originally agreed to, for audit.
